Liebster Award Nomination

A few days ago I woke up and saw several notifications on my phone. One particular notification came from a unique lady who runs a “peculiar” and interesting autobiographical blog called The Somewhat Peculiar Story of Mir all the way from England. She explained to me how she nominated my humble little project for The Liebster Award. An award aimed at helping new or hidden gem blogs gain greater exposure throughout the community and perhaps get a cool badge to display on the landing page of the winning site. I didn’t know anything about it but I thought it would be fun to participate and help others out there in the blogging world.

Part of the nomination comes with a few rules.

1. Thank and link the site which nominated your blog. Thanks again Mir!
2. Answer the questions posed by the nominator.
3. Nominate other bloggers who have less than 500 followers.
4. Ask questions of your own for those you nominate to answer.

So now I’d like to answer the questions posed to me by the lovely Ms. Mir.

What motivated you to start your blog?
Well I had thoughts of doing something like this about a year ago while planning my circumnavigation of the planet. I’ve always liked to write and craft stories and I’m using this site as my first attempt at actually putting my works out into the wilds of the internet. It’s also a chance to keep busy as I got tired of sitting around at home after a long run or workout at the gym wondering how I can make more productive use of my time. I have more projects planned for the future so be on the look out for those.

Do you ever do things just so you can blog about them?
Not really. Traveling is something I would keep doing even if I never chose to write about it.

Do your close friends / family worry about being in your blog?
Well I usually do things alone so my experiences only include myself or the people I end up meeting somewhere out in the world.

Who has been the most influential person in your life?
I would have to say my father. He still surprises me everyday with his intelligence.

What is your favourite gadget?
I’m not sure if I care about a particular piece of technology enough to designate one as my favorite. The back scratcher I received for Christmas one year is amazing.

What is your ideal holiday / vacation?
I’ve been to some amazing places and have experienced so many things. My ideal vacation would include non-stop culture and learning during the day, get dressed up for a nice dinner, then converse and learn with other travelers over drinks in a quiet and dark bar, then a warm, quiet bed with a world class view at night. I’ll be writing about and showing those views in the future 😉

What three things would you take with you to a deserted island?
I’m pretty easily entertained so I would only want some sort of sports ball, a set of huge books and some sort of multi-tool or Swiss Army Knife.

What do you usually have for breakfast?
I’m a huge fan of breakfast burritos. I could eat those every morning and be happy. Eggs, potatoes/hash browns, ham, bacon, sausage, and cheese.

If you could spend a day with a famous person (living or historical), who would that be?
Well I studied Latin for a year so perhaps a Roman scholar or philosopher, Cicero perhaps. They’d probably look at me funny but it would be an interesting conversation.

How did you celebrate your last birthday?
I spent the first portion of my birthday perusing the aisles of a French bakery and wine shop while waiting for my friends to arrive at Hana, a Japanese restaurant. After the sushi and flaming ice cream, we went to a small local brewery called SunUp Brewing Co. for some craft beers, then for more drinks at the FilmBar in downtown Phoenix.

My nominations:

As far as nominating others, I’m relatively new to the WordPress blog world and have definitely been focused on the construction of the website and producing content rather than consuming the content of others. Once everything is in place and my projects are in order, I’ll be focusing more on interaction with the community. I would like to say however that the people I’ve come across in this community have been incredibly nice and encouraging. I’m also really enjoying this whole process of watching something grow from my hard work. It’s crazy how many interesting people that are out there who are willing to share what they like.

So there are only two blogs I follow for now.

Megan 3.3 “My Mind. My Heart. My Revamp. My Life. My Blog.”

I know Megan personally and it’s always great to see her accomplish a new goal on her 40 things to do before I’m 40 list. It’s also a chance for her to document her fitness and weight loss journey. It’s a brand new blog and I’m looking forward to seeing her crush her goals and for the exciting things she has planned for the future.

Tar Heel Voyager “Exploring The Intricacies Of What It Means To Experience.”

A teacher of English from North Carolina detailing his small slices of the day and adventures in Thailand. I still get hungry and jealous when he posts pictures of food and the open roads of Sukhothai. He was one of the first bloggers to show me some support and Good Vibes so I’d like to show him that same respect.

Questions to my nominees:

Would you rather have a million dollars or ten years of your life back retaining all the knowledge you acquired in those ten years?
What is a food or drink you absolutely would never consume again?
Do you have any interesting talents?
What motivates you when you lose focus or when times get tough?
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
What is your favorite cuisine or if you can, name your favorite dish?
Is there a moment in time when you can remember where things were absolutely perfect?
When was the last time you go drunk and can you explain what you remember?
You have unlimited time and money. What do you do?
What is one goal, big or small you hope to accomplish?
Do you like pie?

Thank you all for reading and your support. I’m having a great time with this project and can’t wait to see where it takes me. I hope everyone out there is having a nice day.

    1. I didn’t really have to give that question too much thought. I’m not the kind of person that always has my phone glued to my hand nor am I overly reliant on the internet for everything so I find more pleasure from the simple things in life. Like being able to scratch that itch you can’t quite reach. That pun was totally intended 😉
